Your Design & Designer Program - Questions about the designer program and your design:

At nyctshirtfactory.com you can design and order your own t-shirts from our
extensive product assortment.

Ordering under the “yourself” category (direct to garment printing) allows
you to order a 1 piece minimum - You're free to order just one shirt or several.
Ordering under the “groups” category (silk screen-printing) there is a 12 piece minimum
order - Here you can order many shirts for a group, team, event or business.

Here are the basic ordering steps:
1. Select from ordering either for “you or someone” or “groups”
2. Agree to our disclaimer and that you read these FAQ’s
3. Choose a t-shirt from our selection. Not sure which size you need?
Find out by clicking on “our lines” information page located on the “you” or
“groups” mainpage. Here you will find details of the weight manufacturing
can be found there as well.
4. Choose a design or picture. You can upload your own designs, photos (direct to
garment only) or browse our clipart. Basic info on uploading your own graphics
or pictures can be found under the “tips” link on the “you” or “groups” mainpage.
5. Text can also add an extra “umph” to your tee. Choose a font and write what you want.
Your design and text can be turned, arched or enlarged within the given print area.
6. Once the shirt looks like you want, proceed to checkout and order it.

Q. What makes up the final price of my t-shirt(s) in the designer?
Ordering shirts under the “You or Someone” category is Direct to Garment Printing
(1 piece minimum).
Below are the factors that will affect the pricing of your design:
1. The number of shirts your ordering
2. How many locations you are printing on (ex. Left Chest and Full Back)
3. The brand of shirt (ex. American Apparel is more expensive than Gildan)
Ordering shirts under the “Groups” category is Silk Screen-Printing (12 piece minimum).
Below are the factors that will affect the pricing of your design:
1. The number of shirts your ordering
2. The number of colors (the more there are the more you pay)
3. How many locations you are printing on (ex. Left Chest and Full Back)
4. The brand of shirt (ex. American Apparel is more expensive than Gildan).

Q. What is the difference between screen printing and digital printing?
Screen printing and digital printing are two different application methods used to
embellish fabrics that yield very similar results.
Screen printing uses a stencil method and plastisol inks to print images onto garments.
It provides a highly durable image and is very economical for large runs.
Digital printing uses state of the art technology to print images directly to the garment.
Digital printing also know as Direct-to-Garment provides excellent image durability and
wash fastness, and provides a soft, breathable image feel. This process is perfect for
small orders requiring vibrant full color or photographic images or for printing singleshirts
for personal use.

Q. How can I turn a photo into a file that can be uploaded?
Digital cameras take photos that are already digital files, if you use the best quality setting that allows you to take the fewest pictures, the images should look very good enlarged for tee shirt printing. We recommend using any image editing software you have to get rid of 'red eye' and make basic image corrections. We print what we receive.

If you use a traditional camera, or have artwork on paper that you wish us to print, it will need to be converted to a digital file first. A 'scanner' is computer hardware that converts a photo or image on paper to a digital file. If you do not own one, Kinkos rents such hardware and may offer the service to convert images or photos to digital files for you. We prefer .png24 format for full color photos, 200 pixels per inch minimum at the height and width you want the image printed. Any web format (png, gif, jpeg) is compatable with our designer program.

Q. What types of images files can I upload?
Our designer program accepts GIF, JPEG, and PNG files.
PNG24 (or greater) is the best and preferred. Saving your image as a PNG24 will give
your tee the best quality print.

Images must be 200 pixels per inch. This means a camera original image must be at
least 200 ppi, not adjusted to be a higher resolution.

DO NOT upload images optimized for the web, they look great online but will look
TERRIBLE on a tee.

Any other upload questions, please call 888-577-8349 or email us at
customerservice@nyctshirtfactory.com

Q. What are the order minimums?
Ordering shirts under the “You or Someone” category is Direct to Garment Printing
(1 piece minimum).
Ordering shirts under the “Groups” category is Silk Screen-Printing (12 pcs minimum).

Q. Can I see a sample before my order goes into production?
Using our Interactive Design Studio, you can preview your logo or design on any of the
products in our catalog. In addition, every order is reviewed by our graphic art
department to ensure accuracy. If there are any discrepancies we will contact you
immediately. Printed samples are not available for direct-to-garment or silk screen-printing
orders due to the cost and time required to set up a job.
With this said, PLEASE be sure to double check all aspects of your design and your
contact information before finalizing your order.

Q. How accurate is the sample I see online?
NYC T-shirt Factory technology lets you get a good look at how your item will actually
turn out, but computers can't perfectly simulate the real world. First of all, every computer
monitor displays colors a little differently, so the colors of your actual merchandise
(both the colors of the shirts and the colors of your designs) may not match perfectly
with what you view on your screen. Secondly, the temperature outside and in our warehouse
can have an effect on the outcome of the print on the garment as well. You may notice this a bit
if you order the same design. But please don't worry! Trust the names of the various colors
you use on the site and trust that we will produce merchandise that looks great and doesn't
disappoint! Also, please feel free to use the “Design Notes” feature to pass on any special
requests or concerns to our Production Staff.

Q. Will my design look good on all color t-shirts?
All designs will look good on color tees. However, design printed on white and light color
shirts appear a bit brighter.

Q. Are there any types of images that NYC T-shirt Factory will not print?
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY !

the groups and artists?

Q. Why can’t I upload a photoshop or illustrator file?
Please contact us at 888-577-8349 and we will assist you in uploading a file of this type.
Or, save or export your file as a PNG24...this should work and you will lose no image
quality.
